Sustainability Digest began as a personal project: condense all of the daily ecology and sustainability blogs into one single feed for myself and others to enjoy.
As more and more posts were syndicated into our database the site grew from a few hundred pages to well over 10,000. The number of visitors also grew, to over 180,000 per month!
Of course, the little server we had built the site on was way too small for this kind of traffic, so we were shut down and asked to move the site.
In the second quarter of 2009, we optimized the site design and moved all the content to a dedicated web server. Since then, the site has continued to grow quite quickly.
To pay for the server costs, we have placed ads in the new template, although we have attempted to keep them as unobtrusive as possible.
What lies in the future? More featured authors and articles, and the same service we’ve always provided: the best sustainability and ecology news from around the web.
