We’ve been seen plants and natural elements integrate to pretty much everything lately: chairs, fashion accessories, you name it. And although they’re probably more concept than real sustainable solutions for products, they show interesting ways to view natural materials.

Feed Your Kids to a Shark-Shaped Sleeping Bag
Photo via Patch Together
For anyone who’s ever wished they could experience the joy and comfort of being eaten by a stuffed shark, one designer has created a menacing-looking sleeping bag that will make short work of the sandman. Dubbed the ChumBuddy, the 7 foot long stuffed killing-machine is sure to delight all who become ensnared in the shark’s plush, gapping mouth, or who nestle in its soft, fleece bowels. Just imagine the joy of tucking your child in the shark’s throat each and every night while reading them a b…Read the full story on TreeHugger

Milan Furniture Fair 2010: Live Bio-resin Performance by Breaded Escalope (Video)

There are plenty of cocktail parties at the Furniture Fair in Milan, but this one was quite different. The 3 designers from Breaded Escalope Design Studio in Vienna were not mixing drinks but small products behind their Shakin’ Products Bar. The products were made in the same way as their Original Stool: by shaking and rolling the moulds the bioresin hardens in about 10 minutes and out pops a finished piece….Read the full story on TreeHugger

People got a kick out of our roundup of Moleskine hacks, but for those seeking a more earth-amenable notebook, cast your discerning eyes on Scout Books.

La Pell – How green is this local leather design project?

Leather packaging design by Sebastian Vecchio and Guillem Ferran.
Leather might not seem the most treehugger-liked material, but like with any material, it depends how you use it, where it comes from and what processes it has undergone. A few craftsmen and designers in Catalonia, Spain, got together and created some beautiful pieces to promote certain local trades (in this case the leather production) to prevent them from disappearing in the region due to the pressure of cheaper products from China or elsewhere. The project is called La Pell, which means the skin …Read the full story on TreeHugger

Not your typical architecture firm, Sheila Kennedy and her cohorts at KVA MATx are stripping apart the built environment and reassembling it with an eye for flexibility.
