Now this is the kind of robotic fish we’re really looking for. It doesn’t just content itself with scanning the ocean for information on…Read the full story on TreeHugger

Swarms of Tiny Robotic Ocean Explorers to Help With Marine Preservation…Or Become Fish Food (Video)

Nope, it’s not a robotic fish. At least, not like what we’ve covered before. Scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego have been awarded nearly $1 million from the National Science Foundation to create a whole new kind of robot, or rather robots. Lots of little robots that will collect lots of location-specific data that will help scientists learn more about marine ecosystems. But do we want lots of little floating robots in the oceans? Check out the video explaining why the scientists feel this will do…Read the full story on TreeHugger

We’ve heard a lot about robotic fish over the last year, including that they’ll <a href=”http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/09/biomimetic-robotic-fish-boosts-submersible-effi…Read the full story on TreeHugger
Biomimetic Robotic Fish Boosts Submersible Efficiency for Studying Ocean Life, Pollution

A clever design for a submersible “fish” mimics the wave-like movement of freshwater knifefish. We’ve seen robotic fish that try to mimic the movement of fish, but nothing quite like this one. Its creators at the U.K.’s University of Bath call it <a href=”http://www.bath.ac.uk/news/2009/09/21/robo…Read the full story on TreeHugger
